Acceptance: TORCH

Just checked my email and got this:
Thank you for submitting to TORCH: poetry, prose, and short stories by African American Women. Your poems “Compensation” and “Phenomenon: Little Black Girls in Circles” have been selected for publication in the Fall/Winter 2009 issue.

Shut. Up. TORCH! I haven't gotten to the point where I can quietly announce an acceptance, like as a sidenote on a longer more meaningful post. I think they call that humility or something lol. I don't know that I ever want to get that way about this particular thing. I hope acceptance always makes me wanna shout!

This is the first time I've had multiple poems taken and these were the first pieces I wrote in my MFA program...and I really wanted in TORCH. So that's how I'll remember this publication.

This is the part where I call my mom.

Bye!

Congratulations! That's awesome, especially since you wrote those as part of the program.
