So the 15th and the 30/31 of every month are usually where these book contest deadlines seem to be falling so I found myself formatting and packaging my manuscript once again. "Expecting Magic" is now on its way to the following slush piles:
Brittingham and Pollak Prizes (I like this one. For one entry fee of $25, you get entered into two contests. Last year both of the prizes went to recent UVA MFA Alums!)
I also sent a query/sample of 10 poems to Sarabande Books. Hopefully, they'll request a full manuscript for review! Their response time is under three months. That's cool.
Also, here's a list of small presses that read poetry manuscripts outside of contests.
Peace to your poems, poets!
*update*went through that list and saw that Milkweed has an open reading period that ends in hours! So I sent my manuscript in through their electronic submission manager. No fee! I love it! And I like what's in their catalog.
